Summary: Oil in the Gulf is very sad, and could have been avoided.
The oil in the Gulf of Mexico is so sad, and truly the worst environmental disaster the U.S. has experienced. It could and should have been avoided. Now I have first hand knowledge.
Synopsis: We have internal voices. When things are hard, the voices are often negative, and can be self-limiting. Where is Over the Rainbow? Can it be more than a beautiful song? What encompasses your “over the rainbow?” It could be blue skies, but your “rainbow” could also be a workplace or community in energetic harmony, a mountain stream or a city park, great time with family, or a great workout, a perfectly run event, or fun, or balance, or all of the above.

Take a step back from what you are doing and notice. What is going on?
That’s the simplest coaching tool: noticing.
Coaches use the term building awareness. After being coached, the most common thing people cite is that they are more aware. Practicing awareness is noticing.
In my coaching, noticing is the most common tool I use. I will ask about what you have noticed, trying to get you to go deeper within yourself. When trying to learn more about any topic, the common homework is to notice what is going on.

Powerful questions are open-ended questions that invite introspection, present additional solutions, and lead to creativity and insight. Coaches use them to allow clients to explore a topic more deeply. The answer leads to learning for the client. It has been said, “the more powerful questions the coach asks, the better the coaching”. Try using them, especially in sequence. They work. They can also make you feel smarter.
Here goes my first real entry. I am excited, nervous and amazed that I am writing a blog. Wait tell I tell my Mom!
I am a Professional Coach. My blog will focus on coaching topics, with its purpose to provide insights to current and former clients, potential new clients, and others. How and why coaching works is often mysterious to others, so i hope to shine a light on that. For current and former clients, there can be learning and interest from approaches or topics that we have not covered.
