Here is an overview of my typical process:
- Initial discussion
Share information on coaching, address questions, concerns, possibly have a practice session - Session 1: Orientation
Structured overview of coaching and my coaching, personal information sharing, define relationship, agreement on logistics, commitment, rates. Homework is Wheel of Life and initial client goal-setting. Generally free. - Session 2
Review Wheel of Life / discuss initial goals, and begin addressing goals - Session 3
Values exercise & proceed on goals - After Session 3
Focus on achieving client’s goals.
Each session lasts approximately one hour. Sessions initially occur every two weeks for the first three months, and then can taper down to a minimum of one per month.
Sessions can be in person, but coaching is very common by phone. About 70% of my clients have been coached by phone.
A structure to facilitate simple, effective preparation for each session is provided.
Each session includes a focus on learning (awareness), practicing (action), and celebration. Laughing is highly encouraged.
Homework happens every session. Homework helps the client learn (deepen self-awareness) or practice and take action toward the goal. Either the coach or the client proposes homework—client agrees to homework.
A three-month minimum commitment is important for initial benefit. A year of my coaching will result in significant shifts in beliefs, perspective and behavior.
Rates can be per session or for any agreed upon period or number of sessions
